What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?

Call our office after hours and you will receive a recorded message asking you to call Dr. Tischler at home. If Dr. Tischler is unavailable, the phone number of a qualified dentist on emergency call will be given to you. We'll return the call as soon as possible, providing helpful information over the phone and arranging to see you as needed.

What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?

Is it bad if my gums bleed after I brush my teeth?

It is our experience that most people with gingival bleeding have some degree of periodontal disease. This may be minor, such as gingivitis, due to infrequent professional cleanings or improper flossing technique. Or it may be the first indication that there is a deeper problem with bone loss occurring around the teeth.

I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

We strive to create a relaxing atmosphere by understanding your concerns so that we can help alleviate them. We offer conscious sedation and nitrous oxide before treatment for patients who are extremely anxious. And we have CD players and other comfort measures to help you relax.

Can you tell me more about crowns and veneers?

There are many reasons a tooth may need a crown or a veneer. If a tooth is cracked or lacks structure because of a large filling or decay, it may need to be crowned. We also recommend teeth that have had root canals be crowned to prevent fracture due to their brittle nature. A crown covers the existing tooth and gives it strength. We can reproduce the tooth's natural color and shape by using various types of porcelain crowns. Veneers are thin cosmetic porcelain facings that are used on front teeth to restore the shape and length of teeth and to improve their color. Veneers are a wonderful way to improve and enhance an individual's smile.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. What can you do to help?

For slightly crooked or unevenly worn teeth, a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain veneers may be sufficient to give them a bright, uniform look. In more severe cases of malocclusion, it may be necessary to refer you to an orthodontist for further evaluation. We have many fine orthodontic specialists in our area that we can recommend. We'd be happy to consult with you about a treatment plan that will accomplish your objectives.
